Unless you're into competitive gaming and plan to play something like call of duty on low resolution to have a fraction of a second advantage, you're not gonna be playing any games at 120 fps (barely any exist). One advantage to 120 FPS is that some games can run with an unlocked frame rate and if your TV supports 120 fps, you can use something on the PS5 called VRR (variable refresh rate) and run the games smoothly fluctuating somewhere between 60 and 120 fps. Unlocked frame rate modes on games sometimes reduce graphical settings, though, so there's a trade-off, and some people think it's better to just play on the games' locked 60 FPS modes. Another advantage is that some games have a 40 fps mode (40 is divisible into 120) which is only available if your TV supports 120 fps. 40fps modes usually have all of the graphical quality of 30 FPS mode, but run a little bit smoother. It's sort of halfway between 30 and 60 FPS without the graphical sacrifices of 30 FPS mode. (Note that if you're using a receiver for surround sound, it also has to support 120 fps pass, so not an old receiver).

If all that is confusing to you, you just wanna play games, and your budget doesn't allow for a 120 FPS TV, then you'll be absolutely fine playing PS5 on it. It's not gonna have the contrast and color of an OLED, but it will work. If you want to spend a little more and get something with better contrast and maybe somewhat better motion and also future proof for the PS6, which might have more 120 fps games (although probably with sacrifices again), then go for a TCL QM6K, which supports 120fps.

Thanks! I actually have a computer monitor that supports 120hz and I notice the extra frame rates.

Will pass on this and look for a tv that supports 120hz

Looks like best buy label there product different but I searched and it should be the same model that's on tcl not a separate version correct me if am wrong. here some key difference in the description.

I just bought this in open box - excellent condition and added 2-years geek squad warranty - all for $345 (with tax, NY), and I love it so far! The condition is immaculate, not a single scratch! But I don't play games. But please note that while all these models have Onkyo sound, the 50" one doesn't have a subwoofer. But the sound is still adequate, and I heard it's much better than similarly priced Hisense models.

Yes it's very noticeable, never ever play on anything below 120hz in 2025. I run an oled 48" Gaming monitor on a 6950 xt most games will require medium settings but on mini led or oled it will still look better than a normal monitor on high settings. If only this was a 120hz I think I would have gotten it for my gf's system.
