This vs the IKEA Kallax. Any idea if this is as good or better than the IKEA one

I'm not sure. I've been happy with both my IKEA furniture and my Walmart furniture (from Sauder). I will say that Walmart's sale price is lower. The Kallax [ikea.com] is $44.99.

We bought the Better Homes & Gardens brand a couple years back and couldn't be more pleased. Thicker than the Sauder and Ikea brands, and the cubbies are 13" vs the more common 12". We have two of the 6 cube variant stacked, plated together, and anchored to the wall to make near floor-to-ceiling storage.
