Okay, you forced me to reply. These are not "fake" batteries. They are very much "real" batteries. They are NOT, however, genuine DeWalt, and do not pretend to be genuine DeWalt batteries. Yes, the colors are DeWalt "trade dress" black and yellow, but I think a lot of that is to make potential customers comfortable that they are designed to fit DeWalt products (just like third party Milwaukee batts would be red and black). That said, do you only buy a new car battery for your vehicle at the dealership? Probably not, right? All of that said, two 6.0 amp third party batteries for only $43 from a reputable seller such as Woot seems like a good deal to me... especially if you don't own any other DeWalt products and maybe bought one of those DeWalt chainsaws that was Frontpage for a few minutes. Items like that eat through batteries. Finally, while you may not thumb up the deal, is it really such a bad deal that it deserves a Negative 4 Thumbs?

Comparing to a car battery? Come on. These off brand batteries have been known to ruin tools. Yes, you can buy these and use them with no issue, but there is significant risk and no recourse when it happens. And the coloring...don't be naive, they are branded to fool unsuspecting customers. The issue here is a customer doesn't know what they're getting. Are the cells up to standard? Are they manufactured to last and with protections found on genuine batteries? No clue!

C'mon now. Amazon regularly pimps counterfeit tool battery products which is why the manufacturers won't get on board and nothing is authorized. Woot is nothing but Amazon overstock clearance.

"Known to ruin tools?" Care to cite your source on that? Let's stick to tool batteries (eg, third party DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, Ridgid, Ryobi, etc) sold on Amazon and Woot. Also, I think a car battery is a fair comparison - why not?

Car batteries do not have a proprietary method of connection, which allows many different reputable manufacturers to produce batteries to spec. With third party tool batteries there is a fire risk. If you want to F around with cheap lithium ion packs more power to you but don't act like this isn't a crap shoot.

These aftermarket aka "FAKE/COUNTERFEIT" batteries have also been known to catch fire. Sure some fake batteries might be better than others, but I would NEVER take a chance with these batteries. If you're gonna post these counterfeit batteries, then where does it end? Are we going to start posting all the counterfeit batteries from ebay too?

More important than the proprietary connections are the proprietary circuits controlling charging and discharging rates, temp, etc. You are also talking far greater charging and discharging rates and temps per cell compared to a car battery. The fact that these off-brand batteries have generic controllers, or sometimes NO controllers at all makes them a far greater risk of catching fire or damaging a tool or themselves. But hey, 2 6ah batteries for less than half the price of one of any reputable brand... I guess some people think risking their house or expensive tools is work the $75 savings.

No man, it is one thing to use dewalt colors so that people know what brand they are compatible with but these are absolutely designed to confuse customers into thinking they are legit. The design and lines are exactly the same on purpose!

I hate seeing black and yellow tools and batteries all over Amazon trying to trick you into buying their cheap crap.
