There's an old thread on this maybe last year with a similar or same price. Know that this is very likely a VIVIDSTORM screen just with a Samsung badge… and that should be a good thing… I want to pull the trigger this time… ugh…

It's back!

Ive been having some epic movie nights with mine since picking it up earlier this year. Such a badass screen and a pretty slim profile when wound up.

the geometry of the screen texture preferentially reflects light that comes from below out towards the viewer and either absorbs or reflects away light coming from other directions (top, sides, front)

It has a physical triangle pattern to reflect light from the projector to the viewer, and absorb ambient light. There are a lot of variations, and some are better than others. So someone will probably correct my simplified answer.

The purpose is to improve contrast (or prevent washout) that has been a common complaint with traditional projectors and screen combinations.

Is it stupid to use this as a stationary screen or it beneficial to have the retractability if I'm using this as my main display?

I had placed mine in front of my old screen and used my old long-throw projector on it just to see what it would look like…

Depending upon the screen you're using today this one is likely to have a lower gain resulting in an image that is less bright. Depending upon your existing projector, what other inputs and factors you're trying to control and your personal preferences this may or may not be an improvement.

Good luck!

While the VIVIDSTORM site has some good details on the physical dimensions, I'm struggling to find specifics on the control (or designed) distance from floor to the bottom of the projection surface. Has anyone located that element in a support area?

Good luck!

A fixed screen will be cheaper depending upon the brand you're shopping, though this can range from a few hundred dollars cheaper (Elite) to $150 or less (Silver Screen) to equivalent or even more expensive.

Good luck!

Gain is only .6 as per specs on amazon for the vividstorm version.
