What do you think it's worth for the specs? $50? It's sold by Amazon.com, so it's not a fake deal, like you find with the marketplace sellers. It's really 43% Off from the regular price. This isn't a Chromebook, which is what you normally find in this price range.
I think you're better off with a Chromebook than this laptop.

I have an old Windows 10 laptop with only 4GB of ram. If I open more than 2 Chrome tabs + Zoom, Zoom starts complaining about lack of resources. Windows 11 would likely be worse.

If you don't want or need Windows, you probably are better off with a Chromebook. But some people want or need Windows.

Here's my little rant for everybody. LavenderRaccoon4668 said the price is terrible for the specs. As I mentioned, this price comes from Amazon not a third-party seller, which means it's a MAP price from HP. HP is one of the 3 largest laptop manufacturers in the world along with Dell and Lenovo. Do you honestly think they don't know how to price their laptops? Because that's what you're saying.

The problem is that most people just look at a few specs: CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD etc. and try to do an apple-to-apple comparison when there are many more factors that affect the price, such as case design / material, ports, display type, webcam, keyboard etc. So, once you factor in everything, I'm sure the regular price is fair market value, which means this is a legitimate deal.

better off buying a used or off-lease laptop with a 3-4 year old i5 or i7

BestBuy sells a HP laptop with similar specs for $150 (not on sale anymore) with N150 processor. N150 is actually a better processor than the N200. I would wait until that comes back on "sale". This is a bad deal.

Just so everyone has some perspective. The license for Windows 11 Home, by itself, at retail costs $119.99. And they are saying this laptop at $230 with Windows 11 Home, isn't worth the price. What is there to even say to that? https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-...09MYJ1R6L/

A N200 processor and 4 GB RAM running Windows is what you give your worst enemy! 1366 x 768 is just added cruelty. I wouldn't accept cash to use this laptop lol. My 2021 Samsung S21 phone has better compute!!

No, really what it is is there are price wars going on and everyone is absolutely out of their minds complaining about pricing on anything. These companies are selling laptops at razor-thin margins or break even or even at a small loss, and that's with them buying millions or billions in inventory, meaning, even with their highly discounted costs, they are passing on those savings to users who only one buy laptop with none to minimal markups.

The idea of complaining about a laptop that costs $230 with Windows 11 is outrageous. Do you know how much goes into making one laptop? Do you know how many parts there are? I don't even understand the point in selling laptops in this price range. What are they making on each one $10? Honestly, it seems way too risky and easy to lose money when you are literally making $50 or less per unit on something as complex and expensive to make as a laptop.

I mean, just think about shipping costs alone, forget about all the other overhead that goes into running a company. If you just overnight a laptop, the shipping costs alone can be $150. I'm not saying they are paying that, but the point is, think about how much you spend on so many things and how long they last compared to a laptop priced at $230 that could last you 5 years or more.

It is absolutely NOT worth the price in comparison to this current Dell deal - and I wouldn't even buy that either unless you truly can't afford anything better:

Dell Inspiron 15: 15.6" FHD IPS 120Hz, i3-1305U, 8GB DDR4, 512GB SSD w/ Sign-up Code $224.99

How can any company sell laptops that cheap? They are surely using child labor, lol. No really, the price is truly not believable. Absolutely no way in hell this is real.

You are making it sound like the computer manufacturers are either victims or charities. I don't know their profit structure, but I am sure they make their money one way or another. Even if they do lose something on this particular piece of hardware (and I am not convinced that they do), they make it up on accessories, software and service plans.

Ultimately, we are not here to worry about the big corporations' profits but about our own pockets. This here is a Third World device. No one in the US should be so shortsighted as to be buying this. Even if you are on a very tight budget.
