service is pretty lackluster especially when on congested T-Mobile tower. I found my phone unusable more so than with other providers but just my experience. I'm going with the Google Fi deal that's currently running, you get more features for similar price and better service.
this has been my experience exactly. I'm stuck for the year and I won't be renewing due to the showdowns. anyone on the fence should go with us mobile, that's what I wish I had done. I wanted to be on a different network than my wife so we would have more complete coverage but it's just been worse all the way around than spectrum/Verizon

Not exactly trying to grab free money. It's for 911 emergency services among other things. It's a government tax that carriers are forced to pay. It's an extra tax in this case, or other carriers advertise that the taxes and fees are included in the base price.
pretty sure if you dig deep (enough). you'll probably find the actual costs and taxes are less than what they charge...though i do not have the time nor inclination to dig that deep....

You might be right in this case. it seems like they're charging the recovery fee based on the original, pre-discount rate making it over 26. I compared it to the 300/yr plan and it was 22.But the percentage seems correct. The rates might vary by state but it's probably at least 7%.

10.1 outlines the recovery fee: "Recovery Fee is assessed to help recover Mint Mobile's costs to comply with various federal and state programs, taxes and fees."
10.2-10.5 stipulates the regulated federal, state taxes and fees.
So, separate money grab.

I'm not sure on that one. when I looked at the yearly plan, my taxes section was $1, compared to the 20+ recovery, so I didn't include it. Reach out to mint if you want more information on that pricing. bottom line, there are actual fees/taxes so there is a reason for it. I'm just saying it's not a completely bogus "convenience fee" like ticket sites and such.

I only buy Mint kits from Target or BB as a new customer when I need to supplement my other lines. Not currently interested in Mint, and never through Mint directly.
If you're satisfied that's fine with me. But I'll maintain that it's a discretionary charge, like a restaurant surcharge for Covid-19, employee health and welfare, credit card fees, etc. Bogus is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

Here's an annual plan in the cart:

A couple of questions:
1. Can you use hotspot on iPhone to connect other devices?
2. Is there international coverage (or over WiFi support)? Can you make calls in Canada/Mexico?

Did my own research, for those who care1. Yes you can hotspot but there is a 10gb limit I think.2. Works in Canada but for Mexico need to buy one of their international passes priced vary depending on number of days

I tried this to get retentions to provide this offer this morning after being a Mint customer for four years. Edgar the Mint rep told me he would change my tower by resetting my network settings (which actually just removed all my saved Wifi passwords and BT devices paired - huge inconvenience - and didn't help my dropped calls issue or internet speeds at all [15mbps and 220ms ping]), then said he can't do any better than $40 off my current plan 1yr renewal or $240 for the unlimited plan that they're offering to new customers for $180.

Then, after putting me on hold a 3rd time for almost 20min, he said the best we can do is tell you to join T-Mobile with their Mint customer discount. After transferring me to T-mobile rep Katisa, she said the best she could do is $60/mo.

So I called back eight times tonight and each time got disconnected before I could make it thru the prompts to get to a customer service agent. Then I chatted with them. Jay in their online chat didn't address my initial question, told me they had no discounts for me, and then gave me a "direct hotline" to Retentions that was a different number that goes to their same customer service system.

LOL WTF this is the worst customer service I've EVER seen.

This $180 would end up additional $18 to $24 as part of other charges. Been mint family for 4 years. Looking to move to usm on next renewal.

i took similar deal this January, but mint didn't honored it, although their customer care kept on assuring that issue will be resolved. Issue was that they kept charging me at full undiscounted rate every 3 months. So, finally I left them and took USM's annual plan.

nice deal. was thinking to switch to US Mobile, guess Mint win on this one.
I've been on Mint twice over the years, and been on US mobile twice as well. I am sticking with US mobile long term with their annual plans. They have yearly sales occasionally for $199 for unlimited data. Always good to top up and buy it then for the best deal. Plus they have much better phone deals than Mint I have found. Trying to leave Mint was a nightmare with customer service, while US Mobile's customer service is fast, actually smart, and gets stuff done.
