How the hell are these things so expensive? It's a piece of iron and the burner technology has been around for decades.

I'd imagine that at least half the cost goes toward warehousing and logistics — particularly shipping from the distribution center to the customer. I have a mid-tier Blackstone model and even purchased their heavy-duty cover for protection. Yet, after just one California winter, the entire top of the lid is rusted.

Stick with Blackstone or similar if you already have one or thinking of getting the model you want. This is over price crap with a popular brand name stamped to it. Unless you can find Weber with similar price. Though, even Blackstone is getting ridiculous high prices now. But, when on sale it is worth it.

I owned a Blackstone Omnivore and now own this Weber. The Weber is significantly higher quality, definitely worth the extra money if you plan on owning for a decade or more.
Full disclosure I am also rocking a 20+ year old Weber Performer charcoal grill and a 22" Weber Smokey Mountain.

Quality materials cost money and they make a lot of the grills here in the USA. I don't cover my grill and it has zero rust after 16 years. If you want to buy new every three years, get your $100 griddle. smh.

No. I have this model, No rust issues as long as you use a grill cover and keep it seasoned. FWIW, I don't live in a high humidity area. Temps are real even.

Comparing this griddle to Blackstone omnivore is not fair. Omnivore uses thinner metal griddle and has 38k BTU while this one is 60k BTU. Don't start telling me about it saving propane because that is a a nice way of sugar coating a cheaper product. The previous deal from tractor supply on the Blackstone that wasn't the Omnivore with 60k BTU and thicker griddle is a close comparison I'll link below. Comparing that one to this one is fair and I'd have to go with the Blackstone. It's 150 dollars less for essentially similar product. The quality on the Weber is better but not on the main components like griddle, burners, regulator. In my opinion is that worth $150??? I don't think so. Also Blackstone cold rolls it's giddles while Weber hot rolls the steel. Plus and minus to both methods so look into it.
