This for 299 i think is better for the money given its a newer generation CPU (supports Av1 etc)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...SGMQ&psc=1

or this version for a bit less at 279

Better CPU, but less RAM and smaller SSD.

Both easily upgradeable whereas the CPU is not.
  • Difference in ram is negligible; 8gb less is nothing and if 24gb doesnt cut it, 32gb wont likely either.
  • Storage is an easy upgrade.

I bought this at $320, love it. Hooked to my TV for emulators, fortnite, etc. Got a small wireless mouse and keyboard, USB hub and plug in several different controllers. I did clean install of Win 11 and needed a wifi driver. Download the driver pack or have a network cable if your gonna do a clean install. Also recommended booting into bios and using "performance" mode (it will be louder) and download Radeon to set performance mode of you want to play fortnite for example.

any long term buyers able to comment the longevity of their equipment? In need of a decent home lab server for educational purposes on the cheap.

Also only has 1gb NIC vs dual 2.5gb NICs. Arguably a very niche area but I am looking out for something g a bit more powerful than the n150 for a robust pfsense router. This is probably overkill for that use case but might be a great home lab with multiple dockers.
