Wow, that is really cheap for the features it has.

Looks like out of the box you could do stick or flux core MIG with it.

If you want to do MIG with a shield gas, you'll have to buy a regular and hose as well as buy/rent a tank of gas.

If you want to try to do TIG, you'll need to by the torch, gas parts, and gas.

It's a good thing this is portable because the cables that come with it are really short. You'll have to have the unit close to where you plan to use it. Probably being on a cart would be to far away unless the cart was right next to you.

You weren't kidding about the leads. The ground is 5' and the business end leads aren't much longer.

The reviews are totally sketch. Still, pretty impressive they can get to this price point.

It isn't powerful enough for thick metal welding.

This would be a good unit for a welding noob to start learning how to weld, but I wouldn't expect them to get professional results, especially on car panels because they are thin. Thin metal is harder to weld because you'll likely blow holes it in.

I see thank i guess the thick metal welding machine doesn't come cheap properly $500 -$1k for a proper one?

Wow, I was recently in the market for a welder to do a couple repairs on a lawnmower deck. This is cheaper than buying a new deck or hiring someone to fix it...
Will this work on 1/8" steel to weld back on a wheel to a mower deck that snapped off?

You'd need one that used 240 volts at least. There are lots of no name brands on Amazon that claim they can weld 3/8", but that would probably mean multi-pass welds.

I have this welder: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc...mig-welder. As it claims, it can realistically weld 3/8" in a single pass.

This should be fine for 1/8" welds.

Really so your saying a $70 welder isn't as good as a $1100 welder? Who would have thought that?

MIG is for thinner metal. For heavy duty you have use a stick welder.

That would be a solid conclusion.
