If you are doing this you may as well get the 65" qm6k Pro Costco deal that has a 5 year warranty for $550 and has the qm7's better crystglow lcd panel.

they are getting better and better. none of the big 3 can compete with TCL at the same price point, and it's not even close. Sony is the most overpriced relative to specs lately, and their processing can't justify the price difference from a qm7k or qm8k because of the vastly superior hardware. Just look at this comparison between qm7k & Bravia 5: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...8608/96722. It's incredible that the 98 inch qm7k was recently available for $1999, while the 98 inch Bravia 5 is $6000 despite being an inferior TV. $5000 on Greentoe, but still terribly overpriced.

My TCL QM7 is now 7 months old and gets better with every firmware update. It went from a 6 to a 9 and nearly OLED-like on v217. I can't even believe the transformation FOR FREE. Any manufacturer that tries this hard gets my money. I will be buying 3 more TCL's shortly.

they are getting better and better. none of the big 3 can compete with TCL at the same price point, and it's not even close. Sony is the most overpriced relative to specs lately, and their processing can't justify the price difference from a qm7k or qm8k because of the vastly superior hardware. It's incredible that the 98 inch qm7k was recently available for $1999, while the 98 inch Bravia 5 is $6000 despite being an inferior TV. $5000 on Greentoe, but still terribly overpriced.

You are a really Pro about TVs. Sony, even Samsung has been overpriced for many years. OLED is a fantastic technology, but nobody wanna their 5000 dollars TV become burnt only after 2 or 3 years enjoy.

agreed. I actually bought the 83 inch LG G4 OLED for a crazy low price around $2500 after cash back & rewards. Decided to return it and get the 98 inch TCL qm8k for $3k recently because the black picture quality difference is minimal now compared to LED TVs of 5+ years ago, and the TCL has the advantage in brightness & HDR pop. .. and that extra 15 inches makes a big difference in the "wow" factor of a home theater. There is no replacement for displacement.

I just used Amex Gold for the extra year warranty on my 98 qm8k, but as someone else mentioned, I would get the Costco qm6k pro with the included 5 year warranty vs paying extra.

You do a hard reset after each firmware update? I've just stayed on OTA firmware since I got to a good place with my settings and calibration. I know a hard reset isn't necessary in some situations, but I've seen people on AVS talking about bugs with v217 on their QM7G and a hard reset fixing it. I just don't like the idea of having to reinstall apps and redo the settings/calibration again, especially with new options in the menu with the updated firmware.

TCL has been the king of budget TVs for years IMO, but now they're competing with the big dogs at a fraction of the price.

I've been struggling to find out what a good update for my 55P605.

When I bought it like 7 years ago, it was generally thought of as the best price vvs.quality.
