You could just loosen the spark plug and use the plug to pull it up and out.

You still need an appropriate socket plus extension to loosen the spark plug to begin with, and you'd need a swivel extension plus a 5/8" deep socket to replicate this and still need to rely on the spark plug boot to pull it out. This is way cheaper to use than potentially wearing out the plug wire or coil on plug connection end with the spark plug having to pop it on and off twice as much. Not a bad idea when in a pinch though.

What do you do when you need to put the spark plug back in with coil on plug ignition? You'd have to use the coil/plug to start the spark plug into the threads enough to be able to pull the plug off the spark plug. This style spark plug socket is also much easier to get into the rear cylinder plugs for V8 trucks where it can be pretty confined access to even drop the spark plug into the hole. Just thinking about dropping in a spark plug in a rear cylinder plug tube, try to fish a socket onto it THEN try to get the spark plug aligned with the threads would have me paying a premium to not have to deal with that kind of frustration anymore.

This is a must for 5.7 Hemi plugs, it makes swapping those 16 plugs out way easier!

No question about it - if you need this, you know you need it and there's no questioning it's utility. When changing the plugs on my jet ski, it's mandatory. I'd much rather spend the 9 bucks than risk cross threading a plug.

This tool will make your spark plug replacement a lot easier...especially the ones on the back on those V6 engines. I think this is a great deal considering the price I paid is higher 4 years or so ago for a cheap brand.

5/8 is 15.88mm, will it fit on 16mm spark plugs?

If you've ever had a spark plug socket favor the spark plug over the extension, buy this.
Then go buy the longer ones and the other sizes as you need, and if those aren't doing it check out Ko-ken. Magnetic preference over rubber insert.
Still critical? Go work on different stuff or raise your rate.

First time I tried to change the sparkplugs - years ago - I used a short extension for the socket but it kept disconnecting when I try to install the new plug. Removal of the old plug was not the problem. Read online and tried to use duct tape to connect the extension to the socket. Of course it didn't work. Ended up buying a set of locking extensions from HF. So I have no need for this but I know it's useful.
