I have a fully functional S8+ that I want to trade in for a S24 Ultra. I'm working with a Note 20 Ultra 5g with a dying battery right now. I wonder if the $839 for the S24 Ultra is worth it. Getting the battery and screen replaced on my Note 20 is only $100. Hmm...
It's too much for a phone. I can buy S25U at full price, doesn't mean I should. My issue is that their photo quality has stagnated and same 5000ma for multiple generations. Meanwhile others are using carbon batteries with higher capacity and speed.

The best pictures from my S10+ aren't far from my S23U. The 200mp sensor is still finicky with objects in motion.

I think around 400-500 with trade is reasonable.

Can I trade-in an S7 edge in place of S7?
I don't see S7 edge in the list of acceptable devices.
It's a different SKU.

What's the state of these "Certified Re-Newed" phones? Is it actually better than "eBay Refurbished" for just $7 more but without a trade-in? For example, this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/186378192943 also includes a 1-year Allstate warranty. There are many other sellers. I suspect they're the same phones, just marketed differently.

my very old useless pixel 2 back glass has a tiny crack on it (on top corner). These is no issue with screen or camera or functionality of the phone. Any one knows if this may have an issue with trade in?

My Samsung Trade-In Nightmare:
I took Samsung's $300 trade-in deal seriously, I sent a factory-reset phone in perfect shape. Months later, they hit me with a $350 charge, claiming my device 'didn't pass a wipe test.' No explanation of what that means or chance to fix it. Just a charge for $350 out of nowhere after I'd already moved on.
This wasn't a discount, it was a trap. I trusted Samsung, and they exploited that trust with murky rules and retroactive charges. Don't make my mistake.

You don't need to pay the first months fee after cancelling the account within 3 days and the activation fee is also waived so you end up paying couple of days of prorated charges ~10. The phone you get from best buy and that part of the transaction is done and complete as soon as you place the order so nobody will ask you for the phone, you are just cancelling the Verizon line that you have created during the process. I agree. $400-500 for a flagship phone from January 2024 seems about right.

I think this is the scary part with any trade-ins. You are at the mercy of some contract employees. I only want to trade in if I have an option to return the phone for a refund, even if I cannot get my trade-in back.

An unlocked Samsung S22 can be bought on eBay for $150-200 with $200 being in excellent condition. Usually eBay phones are in better condition than advertised. And I am not limited to choosing S22. So unless I have some good protection, it is not worth the risk.

These comments from previous post are why I use virtual credit cards when purchasing and cancel it as soon as my initial cost has been charged.

Nice just used a cracked iphone 6 to get the S22. Now I can turn around and use that as a trade in when the new S26 Ultra comes out with T-Mobile.

Just turned a useless device into a $1000 trade in (minus $149+tax).
cracked iphone 6 is only $100, no?

After you buy this phone, chat with Samsung and say you want to return. They'll offer a 10% refund.
Should I do this before or after sending in my old phone for trade in.

I agree if your doing that trade.
Quote from Foreth :
at that point, i would just print out a copy of that convo with the rep and send it along with the trade in phone just to be petty and on the safe side. That way, whatever questions the refurb receiver has gets redirected directly back to samsung instead of you.
