Got the trade in label two days before the phone arrived. Shipped the trade-in that day. Just received a trade in acceptance email this morning. Not saying this will always be the case but just a data point to consider.
In the past, I received Samsung received your trade-in shipment email in a few days after I sent it in, then the Trade-in is complete email three months later.

I have not owned/used a Samsung phone, in several years; so, I am not very familiar with any of their recent models. Would it be practical to buy an S22 today, in July of 2025, and realistically expect the phone to be usable, for the next year or two? Or is the phone already outdated/on the verge of being outdated?

I have a Moto G Pure sitting in front of me right now, that has barely been used, and that I have no intentions of trying to use, that is eligible for the $300 trade-in amount. So, I'm trying to figure out, if it would be worth spending $150 on a Galaxy S22 right now?

If someone, who currently uses/has recently used an S22, or is knowledge about such things, would like to reply and share some helpful feedback, that would be very much appreciated.

The S22 was flagship 3 years ago; unless you are going to push the limits with intense gaming or data processing , it will still do everything today well. It will get the next OS update, and security updates to 2027. The only major drawback with old phones is the used battery, which Samsung replaces with their Re-Newed program. Still, S21 and S22 always had mediocre battery performance, so expect more frequent charging.

1) It's factory unlocked, so you can use it on other carriers or when travelling internationally.
2) Trade-ins. T-mobile currently accepts the S10 for their max tier trade-in, so you could have another 3 years for max trade in values (at least with T-mobile, not sure about other carriers). $100 trade-ins can be found on ebay, but it's always a big risk of an iffy phone vs. a brand new looking, no water damage S22 Re-Newed

That said, if you currently have no use for your Moto G, is that really going to change with the S22? If not, it's $150 down the drain. I use my S21 Re-Newed to sync up with other Samsung devices, travelling / sketchy area phone, and as a potential trade-in, but my daily driver is another phone.

It lists Moto G Pure - no year attached to it.
So it qualifies assuming other conditions are met?

Had a S22 and battery life was not great. ~5 hours screen on time. Got a S22+, then a S23. Would highly recommend the S23 instead for better battery life (avg over 2 weeks-8.3 hours with some optimizations and lite performance mode) and an extra year of security updates

Another super fast trade-in processing. From received to approved within 48h. Last time it took 6-10 weeks.

Traded in some tracfone locked Motorola. Not the best deal for me but these TW guys gave me the hardest time with the unlock and this was the easiest way for me to get rid of them.

Would never rec a s22 to an elder. The battery life on that is average at best and won't last even half a day in power saving mode.
Complete and utter bull$hit. I use this as my media phone when hiking, and on battery saver, it has lasted 3 days MINIMUM.
