I'm no expert, but my understanding is that instruction sets can be hidden away in BIOS to run at bootup without the involvement of the SSD. Scary stuff because BIOS is the one place in your PC that you should be able to trust implicitly, because it's written by the motherboard manufacturer or their direct vendor. Great price here though, especially if you have the needed additional components laying around.
As marketing and data gathering efforts continue to evolve, the line between malware and "legitimate" user data gathering is becoming more blurred. This is especially rampant in smartphones, and AI is now here to make it exponentially worse.

Leave a bad review and see if they respond. They will try to bribe you with a refund or "fix" only after you agree to remove your review but it might not work in every case. Kind of shady that they operate that way but they offered me replacement or refund only after I left negative feedback. This probably only works if you bought from Amazon or eBay, not from them directly.

According to various tech sites Acemagic mini-pcs have been found with unremoveable malware even after reformatting and BIOS flashes. Not a very trustworthy company. Avoid

How can they put Malware on your SSD that you install? Are you saying that malware is part of the BIOS and is transferred to your SSD?

"Various tech sites" yet you can't be bothered to name even a single one?

Just checked and there were rare documented cases of malware hiding in the BIOS so I guess it's not impossible but I'd imagine it would have been easily detected by Malwerbytes and such since it had to be added to that BIOS months ago...

Are there any other items that this coupon works for? It did not for other bare bone models that I tried.
The main down side to the cpu is the older generation igpu.
