I hope they run this on sale for around twenty five hundred for christmas. Want it for the vram so I can run skyrim with a local LLM to bring the npc's to life. My laptop 4090 16gb vram isnt enough to cram it all in locally without a system ram / vram split which slows down the responses.

If you have a Thunderbolt or USB 4 port you could connect an external desktop GPU to run the LLM. You can get more VRAM for less money, and have the full 4090 available to max out your Skyrim graphics.

I'd disagree. Legion laptops are widely considered to be superior to Omen ones. Whether it's worth the price premium is up to you.

How's the thermal on this one compare to the Alienware 5090 laptop?

Current generation HP Omen vs. this current gen Legion 7i Pro has indicated the Omen is more prone to thermal throttling and also has the smaller power supply. Lenovo thermals are much better according to the reviews.

Plus the Omen deal you are referencing, if I recall right, has lesser RAM and SSD. While a DIY upgrade certainly is not going to account for the significant price difference, there is still some cost of that.

I have a 3090. 4090 are still way to expensive on the second hand market and you can forget about the 5090. 2400 is the cheapest I have seen that card.

I wonder how many of you guys financed such a big purchase. I decided to cancel my first purchase of a Omen MAX paired with the i7, 32gb/512GB and OLED when I realized I could finance with 0% interests.
Then I upgrade the purchase to i9, 5090, 64gb/1tb and OLED for about 2,750.00 and financed 24x. I'll probably pay way earlier, but it good to have flexibility.
When I bought my laptop, I opened about four credit cards that all offered two to five hundred dollars cash back, and I got all of those deals. Of course I also had the money saved up to pay it all from tax refund, but those credit card deals helped

Probably not. 50 series wasn't a huge generation leap. I've got a 4090 mobile and will definitely skip this generation, and probably the next. More VRAM for locally hosted diffusion AI stuff would be good, but that's about it.
How often is a generation?
