Beware of using this on anything made of aluminum ... especially engine components.

I stopped using this version of SG many years ago. I was working for the military when they stopped using it on their aircraft due to corrosion issues. Instead, I use this product which is totally safe for cars (and aircraft):

Yes, it is more expensive. I purchased a gallon 10 years ago ... and I still have some left.

Comes out to be 0.089 cents per oz (Aprox 9 cents per oz). Homedepot has 2.5gal (320oz) of simple green for $22 (not even on sale). That's Aprox 0.068 cents per oz (Aprox almost 7c per oz). If you want a slicker deal and don't need a sprayer (as in your already have a sprayer), the hole depot 2.5gal is a better buy.

It's odd this comes in a filled spray bottle. The description on Amazon says to dilute it 1 part SG with 30 parts water for light cleaning, 1:10 for general purpose and up to 1:1 for full strength. Even at full strength, cutting it in half with water, it would make more sense to send the spray bottle empty as an add on so you can dilute it for your needs.

Thanks for the recommendation! I had been avoiding Simple Green because of the corrosion issues (namely around my outboard on the boat), but hadn't been able to find a suitable alternative labeled safe, this looks good.

Wirecutter likes Krud Kutter now, which seems to be safe for aluminum when diluted.

Anybody have experience with it vs SG?

Whoa, 10 years ago? And you still have some left? And what did you have for dinner yesterday?

Thank you for sparing my brain and doing the math. I almost jumped on this but thought HD might have been a better deal.

Kind of ironic that you're whining about a post being clutter, no? Thanks for contributing such a useful comment.
I like SG, used to use it in a restaurant environment because it was cheap, effective, supposedly non toxic and relatively mild on skin. Not really a deal though, because gallons are usually around 10 bucks and spray bottles of the concentrate (they sell it diluted, too) are around $5. I've also seen free spray bottles bundled with gallons at Home Depot, but I'm unsure if they still do that anymore.

Is that stuff as safe in a kitchen environment and as easy on your hands? I'd be a bit Leary of using an aviation product around the house, other than in the garage and for outside stuff.

That very long article doesn't really say anything more than they think SG smells worse so they avoid it. Personally I've used both and they're both very effective, haven't really seen one pull ahead of the other.
