I remember Verbatim was respectable for recordable physical media (CD-R, DVD-R, -RW) but haven't tried their hardware though, can't vouch for that

Verbatim is the first 5.25" floppy disk that I purchased for storing my Fortran programs. I paid around 80 rupees which was around $2 for 1 floppy in 1990. Hearing myself I sound like a pretty old boomer.... oh my god, I really am.

Yes, they were a popular company for all kinds of removable media

Not just you my friend. I remember Verbatim as the floppy disk company, and it taught me the word. That branding made me think they must be best disk out there. I was never disappointed with them so maybe they were?

It's currently owned by CMC Magnetics Corporation, a Taiwanese company specializing in optical disc manufacturing.

"2020: CMC acquires Verbatim/Mitsubishi Kagaku Media."

"CMC Magnetics Corporation (Chinese: 中環股份有限公司, Central Ring Public Limited Company) is a Taiwanese company that manufactures optical discs. Established in 1978, its factories are located in Taiwan (Memorex, HP, Philips, TDK, Maxell) and Hong Kong (Memorex, Philips)"

It's good to have as a spare when you spill a sugary drink on your main keyboard...
