Easiest way is to put the dead battery into the charger next to a working one as you would normally to charge them. Connect the + side of the batteries with a thin wire (paperclip will work if it's thin enough). Tricks the charger into thinking it has the voltage of the one next to it. I keep a short thin wire in my box of batteries and chargers just for this.

If the batteries are completely drained, a smart charger will not be able to charge them. Put them into a dumb charger for 15 min, to bring them back up to a minimum level of charge, then put them in the smart charger again. I've had this happen a few times, and it always works for me. A "dumb charger" is a charger than charges batteries with no regard for the actual battery level and instead uses an internal timer to know when to turn itself off.

So, the same price for something with unknown quality vs an established reputable brand.

Duracells are the worst when it comes to leaking.
Absolutely. Spent the last week going through every electronic device I can think of, checking battery status. Most of the devices have had batteries in them for at least 5 years. I'd say 1/3 of those with Duracells showed some forms of leaking. Even devices that I set aside batteries in separate bags from the the device, but attached to the device, to protect from exactly this scenario, they leaked too! Fortunately that tactic saved several devices. So far, it has cost me a nice flashlight, and I need to do some lead repair on a few other devices.

Never buying Duracells again. They have no problem handing out a 10-year no-leak warranty, like these particular versions, because they know no one will follow up. And, all were purchased at Costco - so they were legit Duracells.

Not Familiar,

But I reckon so? If it is like this one, I don't see why not...

If you don't mind going a little higher, NiZn (nickel-zinc) is 1.6V (not that I'd actually recommend them).

I bought a set a few years ago. All of them were dead shortly after

Same experience. Bought them from Costco about 8 months ago still in packaging. About 70% just leaked. Absolutely no reason for that where they are. Never buying them again.

These are sold & ship by Amazon. Works great for those with the Amex or Discover discounts.

Yeah this was my experience as well of the Duracells that I got from Costco.

I was so pissed so I reached out to their customer service number or email, couldn't remember, but afterwards all they offer me was like a $2 coupon. It's not like we'll replace the whole 10 or 20 packs but a low value coupon only good towards Duracell purchase. This is when I switched to Eneloop and/or Ikea Ladda and never looked back. I guessed it's been at least 5 years now.

And no, they were stored in cool place, absolutely just a few years old, definitely didn't last 5 let alone 10 before they leak. The worst thing is they leaked when I put them in torches that I don't use often causing corrosion with the torches.

Says Made in Japan on the photos of the packaging. If that is the case then I am in for 1 or 2.

$2 per battery is worth it.
O have been using 4 of these in my xbox controllers for the past 4 years.
They still hold a lot of charge.

which charge would have these kinds of features? thanks
I've had an OPUS BT-C2000 for over 10 years and it has been great. No idea on current. I use the regular chargers too when I have a lot to charge but the fancy one is nice to have for refreshes and honestly that gets used most of the time since AAA I only want to put 200mA rate into them.

I have Eneloops and and EBL and Amazon Basic. Yes, Eneloops hold up really well as far as original capacity. EBLs' are half price. Did not have them as long as the Eneloops so cannot tell how well they hold up. But are the Eneloops worth twice the cost of the EBLs?
https://www.amazon.com/EBL-Rechar...9b870&th=1
That depends on how many years they last. Eneloops tend to last 10+ I'd expect the ebls to at least last 5 so if the pricing in 5 years is still half the ebls might be a viable option.
