If you feel safe in the US, you should also feel safe in Italy. You're 10x more likely to me a victim of homicide in the states, statistically.

Just came back from Milan and Northern Italy. Yes it's true some local Italians aren't the friendliest, many are fed up with over tourism and it's also true about pickpockets, scams, and other petty crimes (we took precautions and never encountered any). We stayed in a central immigrant neighborhood in Milan, used the metro and regional trains quite a bit but we (family with 2 teens) never felt unsafe. I'd say it's no different than visiting major cities like LA, NY, Chicago etc. know where you're going, stay alert and use common sense. I actually enjoyed Milan quite a bit and could see myself living there as a digital nomad for a few years.

I looked into this and I don't see any $529 flights. Seems like a bait and switch. I really doubt there were 100's of people on this site booking THIS deal in a single day.

Same with the Alligiant deals. Most of these airline deals are scammy.
