Tip: a food tray at Ikea is 99 cents. Raised edges, looks and feels and functions the same, might actually be easier to clean than this very similar product.

the ikea tray has a slippery surface. depending on the material of the bowl and how energetic of an eater your dog/cat is, bowls will slide all over the place and even slide off the tray. both trays are dishwasher safe

Plus the mat itself will slide all over the floor. Ask me how I know. Probably a fine option for felines, but dogs tend to eat aggressively.
