Thinner? Maybe, but didn't look significant different. Rechargable batteries arent exactly state of the art either.
I think my point is more that I seriously doubt that the functionality of the calculator has so dramatically improved over the years to warrant this device still being as expensive as it is, despite any physical upgrades it might have

You could also just type notes/answers into them and call up the info later.

I'm not defending the monopoly TI has or the prices, but as you mentioned inflation, if you paid $100 30 years ago for a similar calculator, that's more than $200 now, adjusting for inflation. So this calculator is like you paying $45 - $50 30 years ago. This means they have effectively become much cheaper than they used to be. Should they be cheaper? Work on breaking the monopoly and they will get cheaper. Or, just buy used. There are many excellent options out there, especially after a school year ends.
