To achieve full speed, you'll need a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot. Even then, the performance gains over a Gen 4 NVMe drive are only noticeable if you're regularly transferring massive files. Gen 5 drives seem most worthwhile for capacities between 4TB and 8TB, where the speed advantage really starts to show. otherwise, Gen 4 is the current sweet spot for price, capacity and speed

To achieve full speed, you'll need a PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot. Even then, the performance gains over a Gen 4 NVMe drive are only noticeable if you're regularly transferring massive files. honestly this is correctly priced for what you get. the read write speed are doubled from the SN990 pro on these. they are extremely fast meaning load times for assets etc in gaming load very quickly and dont cause stutters etc. the 990 pro is Gen 4 PCIE this one is Gen 5. hopefully you will understand now.

For >99% of people, there will be no perceptible difference between this and the 990 Pro (or even many lower end SSDs).
