Its not. I owned 2 steel ones and the inside bottom of the cup is ceramic coated and it chipped away within a year. and this is using ONLY rubber spoons and hand washing.
Its a design flaw.
2 things I wanted to mention.
A) the highest temp I have on the app is 140ish which is not hot enough for me! Maybe works for others . Let me know if there is a way around this to increase it?
B) I've noticed the bottom half of the drink stays hot while the top gets a bit cold! That's another probalm I see in these!
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated regarding these.
Buyer beware. Currently experiencing very difficult warranty process with ember. They mentioned high claim rate as one reason for delay in communications.

When I dug into these briefly, because I wanted to buy a couple, I came across a lot of the same issues.
The finish peeling after a year, the batteries failing within 1-2 years, and horrible customer service. I decided this product was far too expensive to justify so many quality issues. Throwing that out there for anyone considering this.

I do wonder how many of the finish-wear complaints are the result of using a metal spoon for stirring.
At any rate, these should probably have a longer/better warranty for their price..
Before you think the battery is bad, check the charging pins, they get stuck and stop charging. Ember will replace for free under warranty, or fix it yourself for cheap:https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Embe...ent/167828
For me the pins rusted away. Only way to get the mug to work was another proprietary overpriced base. If you buy this, wipe the mug off before putting it in the base. Every time.

The pins rust unless you wipe the mug down each time. Keep the base very dry.

It charges but only lasts about 20 min. Assuming the coffee is still over the trigger temp for a bit, it's probably lasting less.

Love mine, but the ceramic wears off, the steel one should be better.

But their support isn't great at all. 6 weeks and my replacement hasn't shipped yet.

There are some that are metal but reviews say they don't generally get as cold.

I used the coaster from another mug until the replacement arrived. My own repair lasted about a month.
Bluetooth seems to need re-pairing every few days, but not blocking
