Based on my Anbernic RG34XXSP the games are a pretty good mix of legit retro games across many systems. Most "Nintendo" I.P. is not included as they are rather protective of their copyrighted work (Zelda, Mario, etc. I honestly just deleted everything and made my own collection as that seemed easier than deleting (the majority of) games I didn't care about. Finding ROM's (or entire ROM packs) is super easy and adding them is dragging and dropping.

And yes, for games with a built in save feature you can save just like you were playing the original game (seamless process). With games that had no save feature (for example Super Mario 1) you can use "save states" to save your progress and reboot later. Basically like never turning off the old console back in the day so you did not lose you place in the game, but you can go back to the same an hour or year later and restore your "state" to when you saved it.

Russ from Retro Game Corp review of this device. Note this review is a bit older as the newest firmwares worth using would be Knulli or muOS. Knulli is the new name for the fork of Batocera on this device. Both muOS and Knulli are very capable firmwares to use instead of the stock OS but if you want to stick with Stock OS there are mods to improve that as well.
The gist is this is a very capable device for running retro games up to PSX, with hit or miss N64 performance. It hooks up to your TV via HDMI mini and so can function as an emulator for your TV too.
Edit: the near identical device with a 4" vs 3.5" screen is also on sale https://slickdeals.net/f/18474061-anbernic-retro-gaming-handhelds-rg40xx-h-43-72-rg40xx-v-43-19-free-u-s-shipping-via-aliexpress

P.S. Anyone know of a direct size comparison between this and the Magicx Mini Zero 28?

If you want portability, this is great. Otherwise, I suggest a larger screen for home use. The RG40XXH or RG40XXV are made by the same company. I love my RG40XXV. The controls surpass the other Anbernic devices for some odd reason.
