So....what's a tire pressure gauge doing with AI? Seriously. Doesn't need it.

These things work, but will annoy you three years down the road when it's cold out and the batteries are dead.

What is wrong with the mechanical design that has been around 50 years? Why does a tire gauge need batteries and a screen?

I guess these are cheaper to make.

If you HAVE TO keep these in car for long time, make sure get the battery out or insert a small piece of plastic/paper between the battery and connector to cut off the circuit.

Does anyone know if the valve is attached to the device?
I ordered one of these a couple of weeks ago and returned because they were separate and the valve was so small that I knew I'd lose it.

Also on a side note, whenever you do need more air in tires, almost every Costco has the machines available to use for free in their parking lot.
I've been a Costco member for about 15 years and just learned this a couple of years ago.

I think part of the issue with the mechanical ones was a race to the bottom. I lost or loaned my last one I'd had forever that was decent. I got a cheapo mechanical one thinking I was good. It won't give consistent reads. It would vary like 30%. So I got not this one but the prior one that was posted. Although the battery thing is a pain, I'm hopeful it will at least be accurate-ish.

Terrible design. Will not fit in my motorcycle wheel. Pretty much useless if you need it for more than just your car

Lol. Well, the vast majority of people don't own motorcycles, so this is very useful for just about everyone else.

Cannot beat this $4 digital tire gauge, and a huge plus with AAA batteries that most are problematic to deal with when the batteries are depleted. I would pay full price for AAA batteries digital gauge, simple batteries replacement.

There are plenty of metal pressure gauges available - I keep a cheap ones in all my vehicles but almost never use them. They're garbage for accuracy. A digital gauge is significantly more accurate and easier to read - particularly at night. The batteries last a long time and, if that is a concern, buy some lithium AAA batteries and keep them in your vehicle for this and an emergency flashlight if/when necessary.
