No, it has not. It was this price only once before, a few weeks ago, and it made it to the frontpage then.

Anyone have success getting Best Buy to price match? They seem to claim that because you have to sign-in ("be a member") to see the price, they can't price match.
I did 10 days ago. you need to have a Micro center within allotted amount of miles. Talk to a BB agent they will let you know if match is available

Yes - I have price matched to a local Microcenter with BestBuy. In this case though, the pricing is hidden behind you "signing in" as a member on Microcenter's website. Best Buy is telling me that in this case, they can't price match it.

If it was released for this price, I'd ditch my $499 M4 Mac mini. It's too late for me, but a great deal for most.
Yup, also got my Base mini for $499 2 weeks after release. This pro went on sale for $1200 at the same time and I went back and forth on it, but for $1000 I definitely would've went for the Pro instead.

Nevertheless the base mini has been amazing since.

Funny I had no such requirements I just gave product sku. to BB agent via chat and match was authorized

For this particular deal? Most Microcenter deals don't require a log-in like this one.

This was 10 or so days ago. the deal was the same as far as price, product and merchant.I just saw micro center deal via their site, the member sign in was not a requirement when I originally checked for price match.

I think 10 days ago it wasn't "member pricing", if I remember correctly. Seems like a new method Microcenter is using to avoid competitors from price matching.

These run louder because of poor thermal design, correct?

Literally most of the people will be fine using a base mac mini with 16 gb ram. Unless you specifically want those extra CPU and GPU cores, and 8gb extra memory then you should choose this. I have been using base mac mini for months now with literally 100s of tabs open on brave, chrome, and firefox at the same time. Youtube constantly playing in the background as I work on my coding; I have never had an issue with 16 gb ram. Yes at times I have used 8gb swap, but closing browser and reopening again clears that issue in less than 10 seconds. I dont think its worth spending extra $500 for this model.

I am in the market for 64gb memory version (either mac pro or studio m4 max - not m3 ultra) specifically to run comfiUI and generate images locally and some qwen-coder like workflow. I just cant add that over the 100s of tabs from my brwosers. I am spending $2K on the new mac mini but I would not buy 24gb version at $1000. Not enough uplift from base mac mini to justify the pricetag.

My 2 cents

Is this such a better deal compared to the 449 Mac mini? I understand the primary difference is the pro processor, but it's more than double the price. Gotta be the 512 ssd.
The cpu and gpu are quite a bit faster. The pro also has thunder bolt 5 so you get much more bandwidth for devices. With that you can also output more monitors at high hz and refresh rate. The monitor thing is a big reason to go for the pro if you have several high resolution displays. Along with that you'll need the extra gpu cores to push those.https://www.apple.com/mac-mini/specs/
