Staples [staples.com] has a clearance sale on Heritage 20-30 Gallon Industrial Trash Bag, 36" x 30", Low Density, 0.65 mil, Black (250/carton) for $4.70 $3.29.
If you are a (grandfathered) Staples Plus member, shipping is free.
This deal might not be available in all regions so YMMV.

Yes, this is cheap BUT beware of exactly what you are buying. This is a large black trash bag that is only 0.65 mil thick.
As a comparison, Costco's Kirkland Signature Flex-Tech 33-Gallon Trash Bag [costco.com] is 1.2 mil thick (body) and 2.4 mil thick (top).
Even Costco's Kirkland Signature Flex-Tech 13-Gallon Kitchen Trash Bag [costco.com] is 0.9 mil thick (body) and 1.8 mil thick (top).
So if you decide on buying these from Staples, either do not load it with too much trash (or risk a mess in your house) or use it for some other non-trash light-duty purpose (like maybe covering up furniture when you're painting the room).

Specifications:
  • 30"x36" bag is a good fit for 20-30 Gallon trash cans
  • 250 bags per case
  • 0.65 Mil
  • no drawstring closure

Out of stock in the NYC area. Also, when they say "industrial", what industry are they talking about that would use such cheap bags.

We used bags like this back when I worked for the Forest Service whenever we had to handle "hazardous" items.
What that meant in our case was tossing our gloves in after cleaning some of the bathrooms so it didnt stink up our main garbage bags that we would sometimes have for days at a time. They were also useful for handling leaky chainsaw bar oil containers and the likes that cracked or popped on our rougher trails.

These sound really handy if you have to bag a bunch of styrofoam or bubble wrap.

Unavailable in northeast NJ, NYC, and WPB.
