I got one about a week ago from Walmart as a Wi-Fi only phone. It's Wi-Fi 5 and 4G only. You have to update it to Android 14 which is the last version update it'll get. It uses 2gb of Ram Boost by default. I just left that setting as is. The only apps you really have to keep are Moto and Device Pulse. All the other bloatware can be disabled or uninstalled. The phone is fast and the battery lasts a long time. I don't turn it off. I wouldn't use it as a main phone but as a backup for Wi-Fi only and other tasks, it's good and fast.
If you have a phone farm for various DePin projects or whatever else, this phone is suitable. My only complaint is the fingerprint sensor is located too high up. Other than that, the sensor is fast. The speaker is loud. The phone doesn't freeze up or close apps when confronted with too many apps being open or when playing music. But don't push it, obviously.

You are talking about two different things. You can no longer do a COMBINE when you have two active lines and need customer service to combine them to one line. You can still do a HARVEST when there is only ever one active line. You activate the new device with a transfer of service clicking on "keep my number" and everything moves from you current line with the year of service/minutes/texts/data added on. Then, you can repeat the process moving back to the original device (either immediately or after 60 days if you want to ensure the unlock). A harvest can be done entirely online without involving customer service.

I can't believe you can buy a brand new decent smartphone for $25. Whatta time to be alive. Too bad I can't think of a reason to get this.

anyone know if these will still unlock after 90 days? I remember reading something about they no longer automatically unlock, but unsure where i read that
60 days. My last 3 Tracfones all automatically unlocked at 60 days. I didn't have to do anything, they just unlocked.

Has anyone ever hit a wall with constantly combining time from these deals to their main line? I think I have like 6 years of airtime but this is tempting to add another two years

I am up to 2535 days left. That's 6.9 years. I also have a shoebox full of completely functional phones that the service has been scraped from.

These 2 for $cheap deals just keep coming. I almost want to keep buying just because they are so cheap.

what has changed recently is that they now require new activation plus 60 days of active service on the phone you want unlocked. Prior policy only required new activation and 60 day wait without the service requirement so you were able to only pay for a single month or transfer/combine your balance/service immediately after activation. If you know how to play the referral system you can can double up on the sign up bonus by activating each phone on a separate account just take proactive measures. Don't use the same ref code, IP, or device when signing up.

Why are there any comments saying they're using these as an actual plan on the go? These are designed to be used as a secondary phone in emergencies or using it in places where only Verizon towers work. Or at Coldplay concerts for affairs.

Can I use it only for accessing public wifi without having to pay to unlock it?
Confused? You're already paying to unlock them if you buy them.

Presumably these can be unlocked after 60 days of the included service.

Didn't Tracfone disable service plans from being transferrable to another phone, and the min/txt/data is now bound exclusively to the phone on which they are originally assigned?

This is new to me. Do you have proof or reference? I want to harvest the minutes and data only and unlock the phone for other carriers (not resell)

Considering this for our middle schooler to have for emergency purposes only...planning to lock down all web browsing, games, etc.
That said...any ideas what to with the 2nd phone that we don't need? I'm assuming if I try to re-sell it, it's locked to Tracfone.

Wait 60 days for the phone to unlock, and then activate the second phone, keeping your number. Then you have added another year. Sell the unlocked phone. Or save it in case your kid breaks/drops one.

When was the last time you tried to move minutes, data, etc. to an existing phone?Tracfone has refused to move to another phone for over a year. Now they will only move everything & write over, not combine, existing data, minutes, & you lose your current number.
