I got one about a week ago from Walmart as a Wi-Fi only phone. It's Wi-Fi 5 and 4G only. You have to update it to Android 14 which is the last version update it'll get. It uses 2gb of Ram Boost by default. I just left that setting as is. The only apps you really have to keep are Moto and Device Pulse. All the other bloatware can be disabled or uninstalled. The phone is fast and the battery lasts a long time. I don't turn it off. I wouldn't use it as a main phone but as a backup for Wi-Fi only and other tasks, it's good and fast.
If you have a phone farm for various DePin projects or whatever else, this phone is suitable. My only complaint is the fingerprint sensor is located too high up. Other than that, the sensor is fast. The speaker is loud. The phone doesn't freeze up or close apps when confronted with too many apps being open or when playing music. But don't push it, obviously.

You are talking about two different things. You can no longer do a COMBINE when you have two active lines and need customer service to combine them to one line. You can still do a HARVEST when there is only ever one active line. You activate the new device with a transfer of service clicking on "keep my number" and everything moves from you current line with the year of service/minutes/texts/data added on. Then, you can repeat the process moving back to the original device (either immediately or after 60 days if you want to ensure the unlock). A harvest can be done entirely online without involving customer service.

I can't believe you can buy a brand new decent smartphone for $25. Whatta time to be alive. Too bad I can't think of a reason to get this.

They use payment method, address, names, and email addresses to verify if you are a new customer, they are one of the strictest I've ever seen and will cancel orders if you try to make a new account
I agree. I've about 2 times with past sales, different emails, different credit cards and they cancelled both orders.

I bought these for $60 several months ago as backups for my elderly father who constantly breaks and loses his phones. That's a reason if you have that aggravation in your life.

They still do but you're supposed to keep the service on the device for a full 60 days.

Before, you can activate service on phone 1, wait a couple of days, transfer and activate service on phone 2 and both phones will still unlock.

Can I use it only for accessing public wifi without having to pay to unlock it?
You're good to go if you're using it for Wi-Fi only because the phone being carrier-locked doesn't matter in that scenario. If you have no intentions of ever unlocking the phone, like me, then you'll be perfectly fine.
If you get these phones with this deal though, from the other comments, they'll automatically unlock since you're paying for service. If you go the route I did, then they won't unlock.

This is new to me. Do you have proof or reference? I want to harvest the minutes and data only and unlock the phone for other carriers (not resell)
Sorry for the delayed response. No, I don't have proof or references. I'm going by what has been in Tracfone posts for the past month or so. HOWEVER, there was a deal HSN a week or so ago for the Moto Play 2025 (if memory serves me correctly. Right on the product page it states, and this may be verbatim according to my personal notes, "Service plans will no longer transfer to another phone. They are bound to the new phone." That being said, I just recently transferred txt/min/data from a Moto G Play 2024 that I purchased last year. At that time, there was never mention of service plan being bound to the phone being purchased. I asked the question about the change in policy because the 2025 model product page states nothing of a sort. Is it because it's thru QVC? Is it model specific? At this point I'm playing it safe and not purchasing the 2025 Play to harvest the plan believing what I've read on that HSN product page and in forums is correct.

To be clear: My understanding is you can no longer activate the new phone with your existing phone number (which typically then combines your current tally of txt/min/data with what is bundled with the new phone), wait a few hours, then transfer everything back to your other (and probably better quality) phone and expect an accumulation of txt/min/data. I don't know exactly what may be lost in the process (like maybe EVERYTHING), but that HSN product page clearly stated the service that comes with the new phone STAYS on the new phone.

I'm on the fence on this. I've been using the same 2021 Moto G Pure for the last 4+ years. The plan is 2 months from expiring. I combined/harvested plans into it in the past but now I feel clueless about how to go about it. Ideally I'd like to keep my existing number but I'm worried the sim card is getting old and will not work at some point. Also, if I harvested these 2 1 year plans into my existing plan after having them activated for 60 days each would I be able to use my old sim card with the number I want to keep and put it in these new phones? It seems like I'm just better off using a new number with a new sim card from one of these new phones and then trying to harvest the other plan into it. I also have doubts if they will even let me harvest the plans at all assuming I do the steps correctly.

Thanks! The plan is to use these phones exclusively to get progressive insurance driving discounts by leaving them in the car. Less intrusive than having that app on our personal phones. I get about $150 break every six months for our two cars

I ordered numerous times and I have no issues. I think I might've used a virtual credit card number from my citi double cash card.
