I have the xm4, my wife has xm5, and I recently upgraded to xm6. The xm6 are noticeably better in every way. I did not think xm5 was a huge upgrade from xm4 and was disappointed in noise canceling being potentially worse in some situations. You can see online many people reflect my sentiments and thus recommend the xm4s for their value. But if you can afford it, you will not regret the xm6. I have bought many pairs of headphones from secondipity and have never had an issue.

I would say the XM6s are a return to form now. Between the 4 and 5 maybe most would pick the 4

A year in after I got my refurbs for my xm4's, there is a constant shrieking sound in the left earcup.

Depends on what you want out of these.

Build quality: Hinge breaking issue is prevalent in xm5. There have been some reports on reddit about XM6 hinge breaking as well. It's too early to actually know if it is as bad as xm5. XM4 is comparatively sturdier than both, easily replaceable, cheap and has had a longer track record.
ANC: XM4 is a step below both xm5 and xm6. Still top of the line, but not as good.

Battery: XM4 & XM6 - easy. XM5 - Not so much.

i bought a xbox elite controller from secondipity. it was obviously broken but still sent it all customers. I kind of wonder if this would be the case. Be prepare to return. Hope to be wrong so let me know. I might get the XM6

For a seller reference: I recently purchased a Sony 7.2 receiver Certified Refurbished and it came dented. I contacted them and dragged my feet responding to them because they will either take it back or give you a $30 max partial refund - i took the refund because everything was perfectly tested and working. The refund process was fast and smooth. Needless to say, i returned a defective open box from Adorama and it took forever to get a refund after they received it.

do not buy Sony I tried 3 different models all have hinge broken issues. last week changed hinge for xm5. Bose is way better, still going strong from last 6 years

this is my issue with the XM4s after years of use, the noise cancelling produces that sound somtimes on the airplane (XM4s are my travel headphones), I have to turn off ANC to stop it.

Love my XM4s but have been traveling with earbuds lately for convenience.

XM5 hinge issue looks like a disaster online and these XM6s look like the same hinge.
