I bought this opener a few years back. It's crap. It's a product made by another company using the Kitchenaid name as a license. It's not durable like you would expect the Kitchenaid name to be

These are garbage. I bought two of them a couple years ago and neither lasted more than 3 months. Try sorting the Amazon reviews by date and you'll see a lot of recent ones are 1 or 2 stars.

I got a Gorilla Grip for about $10 and that lasted 4 years.

Some of us prefer a well made, reliable manual can opener.

The dollar tree product won't last more than a year, and is a pain to use. I can't tell you if this one is any good, but the one that KitchenAid made 15-20 years ago lasts for years. Mine was stolen from a campground a couple of years ago. I'm going to take a chance that they're still well made.

1) Is the dollar tree offering a KitchenAid? Not all can openers are created equal...and KitchenAids tend to last quite a number of years.

2) Similarly, a lot of automatic can-openers, well...just suck and crap out pretty quickly. Also, some folks may not have the counter-top space for an automatic can-opener, where a solid, reliable manual opener can just be stashed in a drawer.

I just got a dollar tree can opener about a month ago. Literally got 2 uses before the cogs or gears or whatever the circular discs with teeth are called stopped turning each other. Like they got misaligned or something

I purchased this about a year ago.
Complete garbage. Lasted a few months before it stopped gripping the can top and opening.
Recently purchased an OXO. Not the cheap one you find at the home stores. It's the better version. Sorry, don't have link.
The OXO is great. No issues whatsoever.
Stay away from the KitchenAid.

I bought this a year back and I like it. Works better than the dollar/asian store ones that would've fully rusted on me by now. Only caveat is it does not work well on cans with tall lips.

I've never had one last more than 2years due to rust. This a good choice?

I would spend just a little bit more and get something like this, it's a side cutting one. I got mine at HEB, it's some no name brand. I've used it for over 10 years.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AX13US?th=1

Thanks for this. I needed a new one, plus I live in Florida and go powerless during hurricanes so ordered this and the manual one also.

There's a reason the the EZ Duz It canopener has nearly 5 stars. Basic. Works every time. Durable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0071OU...tle_3&th=1

Forget manual can openers unless you're a prepper.

Here's what you want, It's on sale, has excellent reviews, has a knife sharpener built in, and it's on sale at Amazon for twelve bucks! It's on an earlier Slick Deal today.
