Looks like there are two plastic nubs that are exposed to the water, judging from one of the customer photos and attached review

Even though the kettle itself is pretty small, the base is rather large at 6"x10". For me, it's not much of a space saver vs my 1.7L kettle.

Well shit, I just bought the Elite Gourmet electric gooseneck when it was on sale on Prime Day for $40, and I threw away the box the other day. Guess I'll have to console myself with the fact that it's a 1.0L and doesn't have the plastic window bit.
