Motion detection or individual identification? Wyze provides app notifications and short video clips of the motion directly to your phone without any subscription.

Great deal but products from wyze just aren't the same anymore. Requires subscription for even basic person detection. Go with other brands like tapo, eufy or reolink. Eufy now has an NVR system that doesn't rely on wifi.

Yes, most cameras offer motion detection. The issue is most people don't want to be alerted for every leaf that falls or if an animal crosses or a shadow moves. All i need is if a person was detected which i currently have on my grandfathered Wyze cameras. On the new ones, person detection is not available until you pay for subscription.

I had about a dozen Wyze devices, he past couple years (v4/ OG) have been a bust, now all I have left is my outdoor wire free camera and the garage door opener / camera combo. All others I have switched to Tapo (kasa / tp-link) the solar bundles are great.

wyze has alot of great features. like notification snooze, when u need the camera to still record but not be bombarded.
however, the notification cooldown of 5mins is a deal breaker. I had blink and I got rid of that trash. i now have tapo. it comes with its own set of headaches like no notifications snooze. their idea of notification snooze is privacy mode where the feed is cut completely.however I can get unlimited notifications on all cams for free.

There is still super value in those V3 cams, I wouldn't trade them for anything but I am also looking to upgrade some of my cams with better resolution. For example I have 2 older floodlight, one of them just got wonky, light stops turning on at night, but turns on during daytime, image quality is crap since my cam had to be mounted like 20ft high.

Bought this yesterday. The spotlight works great. Identifies cars or people but you have to load to check. Now this would get super annoying but I think you can schedule when you get notified.

Bought two of these sets for around our chicken coop and property. Would recommend to anyone new to security cams like us. Install was straight forward. Floodlight is nice and bright, 2.5k resolution of cams looks great, night vision impressive. Siren loud. Detection settings / sensitivity etc through app is easy to navigate. All in all was very impressed for the price. Going back to buy another set for my parents soon (who even struggle to navigate email lol) since even they were able to figure out the app when I shared my chicken coop feed with them.

We just bought sandisk high and max endurance microsd cards (5 to 10yr warranty) to avoid the subscription route. Note like some people mention above they limit your ai detection settings without the subscription but as we live out in the country we just want to be notified of all activity (with sensitivity turned down) and can watch several days of feed with a 128gb card.

Yeah, wyze and many others like ring really require a sub to get the premium features. I've got about 30 wyze cams (Wyze v2,v3,v4, pro) between two houses and I use one $99 a year unlimited cam subscription. Cloud storage lets me go back 14 days of recordings. Several things could be improved but I appreciate that I can add as many cams as I want and still pay $99 a year for the premium/cloud features. Sub includes my wyze floods and wyze doorbell and wyze cams. The v4 cams have really nice 2.5K res and low lux color night time video and built in light for abt $35 or less on sale.

I've 3 Tapo's and they're just alright. (Still much better than recent Yi! / Kami camera app catastrophe), especially
My single Wyze has the best app (speed) and audio I've tried so far of the cheap brands (Foscam, HooToo, Amcrest, Tapo, Yi/Kami, etc.) So I'm planning to ditch the Yi and switch over the Wyze.

I found my local Costco has it for $79.99. Great deal!

I've been using Wyze from beginning and gone through their change to subscription model. I wasn't too happy about it like many others, but their message explaining it made sense to me. There was just no other way for them to sustain and improve their products. For me with this purchase I have 12 cameras. $99 a year is really not a lot.

Nobody has mentioned this but to me and my family, the best feature is the live view monitoring. I hung a 15" portable monitor on the wall with a fireTV 4K stick plugged in running TinyCam Pro. The whole setup cost less than $100, and we got a 24/7 security monitoring system. No subscription needed. Granted other cams might be able to do the same but Wyze has been pretty solid for this.

I found one at Costco San Dimas for $40. Probably their last one thus the discount. Sold the floodlight pro for $80. Wish they had more for $40.

BTW i also went to the one in Azusa and while they had a bunch of them, the price was $79.97.
