Note at the time of this comment it's still the posted price at wally world but is $1,018.99 at eBay (eBay also charges the same $79 for an extended 2 yr warranty as Walmart does for 3yr, for $99 you can get 4 yrs from Walmart, the system comes with a 1 yr warranty from MSI.)

Decent deal! I have this exact case and few things to note:
The LEDs on the fans and very low quality. They went out within the first 90 days. They light up randomly for few minutes before turning off which leads me to think that it's an issue with cables. You will also hear similar stories when you go to their support forum. Many received this unit with LED fans not working at all upon delivery and they had to reconnect the cables to get them to work. Sadly, reconnecting the cables didn't fix my issue and and PC works just fine without it. Still very satisfied with my purchase especially considering the price.

Yes it would be significantly faster than your laptop. Even if your desktop and laptop have the same graphics cards, the desktop will always be noticeably faster than laptop.
You could wait for BF but there haven't been too many good gaming desktop deals during BF lately to be honest...

This would smoke your laptop GPU. Idk if I'd pay $1000 for a setup with an 8gb GPU, but if you're just asking what is going to be faster, the desktop is faster without question.

If you have access to a microcenter, there is a 7600x3d, 9060xt (16gb) for around 1050.
