At Staples in store only: Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15.6" Laptop Intel i3-1215U 8GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD Win 11.

$249.99, plus $40 in Easy Rewards points (thanks to sarcasmogratis for reminding me about the points!) YMMV, depending on the stock in your local Staples.

Link for reference only (since it's out of stock online): https://www.staples.com/lenovo-id...6?locupd=y

Includes: full HD screen (TN, of course), Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, up to 10 hours battery life (although that estimate is wildly optimistic), USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, USB-A 2.0, HDMI port (for those of you who gotta ask!), headphone/mic combo, SD card reader, camera, and power port (sorry, no USB-C power). No fingerprint sensor. No backlit keyboard! (but I respect you for asking).

I realize it's a 12th gen i3, but it's much better than the laptops with the hobbled i3-N305 (and WXGA resolution!)

Misc questions:
- yes, you can use Easy Rewards points to purchase this laptop, but no more than $49 in points - that way, your total is $200.99, and you get the maximum number of "$10 in points for every $50 in purchases". And your sales tax is reduced (by paying sales tax on only $200.99, instead of the full $249.99).
- yes, you can use gift cards to purchase this laptop and still get the max "$10 in points for every $50 in purchases".

Below the price, you can see "None available to pick up at xxxx store" or the number they have in stock. Click on "Check other stores" to see how many each of the nearby stores have. If it says they have one in stock, they likely have two. If they have none in stock, they might have one (if some other savvy Stapler didn't already get it).

Calling to see if they have one in stock - YMMV. I know the hardliners say, "NEVER call", but since this isn't a highly, highly desired item (e.g., Apple iPad 11th gen 128GB for, say, $200) you might be able to get away with it (without a Staples employee beating you to the punch).

For anyone thinking about this deal, you have to undertsnad how Staples inventory works. If it says your store has 1 in stock, there is a 10% chance the store actually has it. If it says your store has 2 in stock, there is a 35% chance the store has it. If it says your store has 3 in stock, there is a better than 50% chance that your store has it.

You can call and ask therm if they have it in stock before making a trip there, but even then, I have had their people lie and tell me they have it in stock and when you get there 40 minutes later they claim they just sold it. (I know it was a lie, becuase the online inventory still said the same amount as before - had they sold one, the number would have gone down by one).

Am I reading this correctly (and from the correct maintenance manual)? One SODIMM slot, removable?

I see elsewhere 1 slot available, not clear max gb supported, 1 site says 16gb.

Crucial confirms 16GB: https://www.crucial.com/compatibl...d-3-15iau7

Caveat: Crucial is pretty good, but not perfect. I discovered a particular configuration of Lenovo Thinkbook (for example), limited me to 16GB (8GB soldered, one open slot - which I was forced to use another 8GB stick), despite Crucial's (and Lenovo's) info that said I could use 32GB sticks.

I'm sorry, but you are totally wrong on this (at least as far as laptop inventory goes). If it says there is 1 in stock, there is most probably going to be 0 in the store. I was told this directly by the store managers at 3 different Staples stores that if it says 1 in stock it is usually the display model which they can't sell. Even when it says 2 in stock, less than 50% of the time do they still have it in stock.

Also to note, if you are going to the store to buy this, you can only get the $40 back in rewards if you buy it in store, if you order it online to pick up in store you will not get the $40 back in rewards.

Secondly, be prepared when purchasing in store for the hard sell on the extended warranty which is where they make almost all their profit.
