FYI this is somewhere performance wise around the 4070Ti on the desktop GPU front, all the mobile GPUs are thermally constrained and won't output as much as desktop ones.

Apple has the same issue on their chipsets (eg the passively cooled Air vs Pro). It's just a physics thing, not an Nvidia thing.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Just fyi: this one was $1999 ($100 cheaper) at Micro Center last week due to "member" week (extra 100 off with free member registration). Glad that Micro Center keeps the price unchanged this week, although the $100 member discount is gone.

Not sure why only the 5080 and 5090 models were posted last week but nobody mentioned this 5070 ti model. BTW: It was out of stock for the first few days last week when the member discount started, then it was in stock for at least a few days (at least in several east coast stores) during the "member week". I was close to pulling the trigger in the showroom … until I noticed how glossy that screen is.

It wasn't because it was out of stock everywhere at that time, so there was no chance of buying it. Hence why it wasn't mentioned in that post.

Do these need to be plugged in to run at full speed I know the Asus zephyrus does. I think MacBook is the only one that runs at full speed without being plugged in is this true anyone know?

It wasn't in stock when the '$100 off for members' was active, that's what I am saying. I checked it every day for the past week to add it to the front-page thread, so I know it wasn't in stock for the entire past week. Before that, it was available but at a higher price than this.

In some stores it was in stock for a few days last week during the member week. Too bad they couldn't get it in stocks in some other stores. The 5070 ti model is a relatively good value in the spectrum.

Most (if not all, but the weakest ones) gaming laptops require to be plugged to get peak performance.

I got the 64gb 2tb 5080 oled model of this - it screams - yes it does not run full power on battery but that is an intel thing you can set the power mode to run at 100% on battery but then your battery life will suffer. The oled screen is BRIGHT! and Beuatiful 240hz and gsync.
