as a person that's built countless custom PCs, it's really not true anymore. these companies buy huge numbers of components at a discount, and they then charge a premium on the assembly that's pretty close to the discount they got on the parts. they make a profit, and you end up paying the same for the pre-built as you would the components of the system you were going to build. it's not exact, but it's pretty close and definitely not worth most people's time. the only people that are putting together systems on their own are people that want to have the experience or something custom, NOT to save money.

Thanks. I prefer skytech builds if similar to DIY. My time is more valuable than a minimal savings!

Respectable. It's only mid range but it's pretty solid

Ain't that the truth! And when windows doesn't work from the get-go, your whole day is shot. I hope Costco gets a similar deal

Personally I would take this one over the Costco deal if you are gaming. The 7800x3d is great and gpu is newer with double the vram. To me, it would be cheaper and easier to add another 1tb ssd (assuming it has the additional slot, I didn't check) than to upgrade the gpu to a 16gb card and sell this gpu for some money back.

Amen to this. As someone who was once "Newegg's Midwest Branch" from parts, as an "old man" I prefer spending time on other things versus troubleshooting firmware and driver issues. Of course I've lived on laptops for a decade now too.

All that being said… I did buy one of the Define North XL white/walnut cases last week and just ordered a 5070Ti for pickup at Best Buy during the tax-free weekend this weekend. So…. Haha.

you shouldn't because they use generic mobos leaving you stranded when you want to do a bios update.gpu is trash in this build, move on
My last skytech had a good mobo and still going strong, but I'm looking for an excuse to upgrade. That thing is already 7 years old! But I'll pass on this one nonetheless.
