Important to mention that this post is for M3 Macbook Airs. Not the current generation, M4. You can get an M4 for $799 at Costco right now. Personally I'd take the $50 upcharge in order to get the stronger chip, ability to use an extra external display, and an extra year's software support.

Odd considering I got the m3 24/512 13" for 899.97 when the m4 was out and the earlier rounds of clearing stock. This seems like a poor deal for the 16/512 at 999.97

If no one takes the deal, costco will continue to drop the price until it is too good to pass. Just for a comparison, recently amazon prime day has "like new" m3 macbook air 13 16gb/512gb for $699. I expect good deal will be the same price for a new one.

Now the real question is: return the m3 24/512 and replace with an m4 16/256 plus $100 in cash? If you already have an external hard drive and don't plan to use more than 256gb local, I doubt the extra ram is that necessary...

I was coming from an M1 8/256 and will say the M3 doesn't feel two generations faster and still throttles when I try to play SC2 on anything beyond low settings and I bet M4 isn't much better or faster than the M1. I was also doing work things like windows Remote Desktop and smart home video monitoring apps on the m1 so I don't feel the lag with so many things open thanks to the 24GB but after almost 2 months of using it I think the M4/16GB at $799 might be the slickest deal. M1 is still a beast I just wished I had gotten 16GB to future proof it better the first time around before AI thankfully forced Apple to make 16GB standard. I'm still debating returning the M3 with costcos 90 day but what if I find myself back in the 16 vs 24GB conundrum in 5 years again?

Some item descriptions in the deal are incorrect.

$999.97 Macbook Air 13" 16gb/512gb Midnight item #1814343 -- This is the 15" MXD34LL/A

Dang expensive and can't do external monitor? Not in the market but would have been an automatic return and waste of time for everyone.

@ComoEstanPinches nailed it. I wish I had seen that M3 24GB/512GB for $899 deal before it went OOS.
