I second this idea...it's best to use multiple lower emitters (such as these) as a ring around the tree feeding will promote root growth evenly....you can also do deep watering where you water for more than 30 mins to an hour and you just do it once a week. This promotes deeper root growth...again this strategy is for established trees and not the young ones or plants.
