Good price if you're looking for one, but this was closer to $80 on Amazon near the end of last year so probably not the lowest price you'll see them in the future.

I have a battery powered orbital sander and regret it. If you truly need cordless then maybe, but for around the house a $50 corded sander will be 10x more useful with the unlimited runtime. I use my cheap corded Skil sander for everything now and my cordless sander sits in the drawer.

Is it this sander?

What is your battery capacity? That's the major factor in runtime.

Corded sanders are cheap and powerful and you don't have to worry about runtime, but you'd have to be doing a LOT of sanding to run through a 5 amp hour of battery.

For most people, the convenience of not having to worry about the cord outweighs the other benefits. I must be your exact opposite because I have a few corded sanders but they collect dust in the drawer and I use the cordless for almost all applications.

I get less than 30 minutes with a 5AH battery pack. By the time I had to swap out the second battery, the first one wasn't done charging.

I was doing this in my shop with dust collection, and having my dust collector hose on the tool made me realize how ridiculous the setup was - time to just get a corded sander.

I use this sander every single weekend bc I build a lot of simple furniture. I came from the corded version of this sander and it was a dream getting rid of that cord being in the way. I can sand for 20-30 minutes on high with a 5 amp battery and it doesn't die.

Additionally, the brushless is a huge advantage vs maybe some of the either brushless tools (when comparing to brushed motor). If you're doing a lot of different pieces of wood and switching out sandpaper grits then being able to stop sanding in a split second is a big time advantage. With my brushed/corded version I would turn it off and then have to wait out for the spinning to stop before being able to pick up the sander and move on to the next piece or switch out the grit. I can imagine going back to a corded or brushed after switching to this one

could this be used for polishing or buffing?
