Has the Microfreak ever been this cheap? Very serendipitous as I've been debating between getting the Micro or the Mini and this price is just too good to pass on. The touch keys might take some getting used to, but it's a perfect travel synth that's lightweight and powered via USB-C. Thanks OP!

Get both you won't regret it. I own both and I'm picking up a second microfreak.

This is a crazy deal for the Microfreak. I just bought one this past week for $200 off Facebook Marketplace and to me that was a great deal. $235 for brand new is excellent if you're looking to try out a decent hardware synthesizer. I admit that after a week of using it I wish I had the money to comfortably buy a Minifreak instead for the larger keybed, but the Microfreak has midi in so I could probably resolve it with my 88-key Roland if I wanted to.

Thanks OP. I ordered the beatstep. I have been looking for something to use with koala and hopefully this fits the bill.
I used to have a microfreak but outgrew it pretty quickly. It is an interesting little synth but quite limited with one LFO, low voice count, and not having true polyphony. At the time I had no other hardware synths and the limitations meant I was constantly reaching for a VST instead. My expectations were just out of whack. It is fun as a quirky device to tinker with, but is not a replacement for a more featured synth. I almost bit on it but I still fear I wont get enough use out of it. Most of these devices (especially the controllers) should at least help lower prices of Arturia crossgrade offers.

Can someone recommend me the best Synthesizer? I never had one and want to start that can last very long. I was thinking about Microfreak but from what other's comments, it seems it's only good as starter and then soon becomes outdated and will need to be replaced.

I have a microfreak and as a beginner in synths I love it. Very fun to play with. I did a lot of research and many say its the best 'bang for buck' synth. The only con is that it has no effects and can sound quiet until you add something to boost the sound.

Believe me, as a beginner it will take a long time before you will need to level up. Arturia has been making free of charge updates to the microfreak for years, and each update makes it feel like a new instrument again.

There is no best. There are just good fits for what you want to accomplish. There are many types of synths and most hardware only supports a few. The best is to probably get one of these controllers then purchase Arturia pigments when they give you a crossgrade offer. That gets updated annually and has more features than most hardware.

LaunchKey 25 is probably a better controller than the MiniLab - more pads, larger keys, but no faders. The BeatStep and KeyStep aren't really comparable since they're also sequencers.
