The Sofirn SC33 uses a 21700 rechargeable battery and has a USB charging port. It uses the popular XHP70.3 HI LED and can reach 327 meters. Of all the Sofirns I've tried, the SC33 is my favorite and most used. Lots of floody lumens, very ergonomic, great tail switch.

Specs:
  • Emitter: a XHP70.3 HI LED
  • Boost driver
  • Orange peel reflector
  • Tail e-switch
  • Battery: 1 x 21700 rechargeable lithium-ion battery
  • Dimension: 131 mm × 32 mm
  • Weight: 110 grams (without battery)
  • Flashlight body: AL6061-T6 aluminum alloy.
  • Toughened mineral glass lens
  • Mode Memory: memorizes the last brightness level used in the general modes (Eco/Low/Medium/High)
  • Charging specification: 5V/2A
  • Operating voltage: 3V – 4.2V

i wouldn't trust this flashlight. 5200 lumens will get very hot so how does this flashlight cools off without burning your hands?

Got this in one of the recent Ali sales at just over $20, so may be worth waiting for a better deal.

To me, something like a Wurkkos TS26S is "floody". This one has a defined hotspot with some spill.

Light temp is on the cool side with not-so-good CRI. OK for max brightness, but not great to see correct colors.

Sofirn overstates the lumens on this. According to ZeroAir, they drop from initially 3500 (which is still massive) to under 2000 within 30sec and to just over 700 when the temp regulation kicks in. From personal experience, unlike the somewhat comparable Wurkkos TS23, this one gets hot very quickly. Not sure why as they are using the same emitter.

The 5200 lumens is for turbo mode. Modern flashlights aren't meant to be run on turbo for long periods. (Think of it like a car's turbo. It's meant for momentary boosts.) In turbo mode, it steps down after about 3 minutes to high mode, to avoid burns and damage to the light.
It's a safe, well-tested flashlight that is very popular in the enthusiast community. You can find run times and testing data here: https://zeroair.org/2023/08/15/so...ht-review/

I agree that they overstate the lumens (a lot of companies do). But I'll continue to respectfully disagree that the SC33 is not floody.

The TS23 has a more defined hot spot: https://youtu.be/xTrMhjhHEz0?si=zJDtkmgGCeo2BhaF

So? TS23 has a different reflector, with a bigger head. Side by side, the two are VERY close though.

I think there should really be 3 categories - Spot, Flood, and Mixed, where you get a spot and a lot of spill around.

Last time I ordered from their store they never shipped the order and gave me a US tracking number. Then later they said it's actually coming from china.

There are 5-6 different Sofirn-related stores on AliX. Are you sure it was this one, the "Sofirn Outdoor Store"? I've placed several orders with them in recent months and not had any issues.

Agreed. Technically there are 4 categories:
1) Thrower: tight hot spot with high candela (example: Sofirn SK1 w/SFT25R emitter + deep smooth reflector)
2) Floody Thrower: good hot spot but with some usable spill (example: Sofirn SK40 w/SFT70 emitter)
3) Throwy Flooder: mostly floody but has some reach (example: Sofirn SC33 and Wurkkos TS23 w/XHP70.3 emitter)
4) Flooder: wall of light with high lumens, no hot spot (example: Sofirn Q8+ w/6*XHP50.2 emitters)
I refer to the SC33 as a "flooder" in this listing because I assume it would make more sense to most people on SD. But it's a throwy flooder.
