$50/mo is their lowest plan at totalwireless. And you would need 2 months.

This changed in April. Now you need to have purchased 60 days or more of service. 30 won't cut it anymore. Also I don't believe there's a $10 option anymore for activating a new device. Their plans start at 15 for the first month then 10 afterwards for autopay.

Ordered one to try to use for Tracfone. After reading all info compare to the phone from Tracfone, especially the possibility of unable to unlock, cancelled the order.

I will wait for deal for Tracfone.

why would it be hard to unlock? All you have to do is meet TW unlock requirements which means activating with purchased service for 60 days - it's no different than any other TW phone.
The problem is that we do not want to purchase 2 months of TW service which is not worth it comparing to value of the phone itself.

Most people would consider moving existing TF line to this phone and use it that way, but that may not qualify an unlock.

So why not have TF rebrand it, and use their cheap plan for 2mo?

The processor is snapdragon 4 gen 1, about same power as snapdragon 845, a late 2017 processor on 2018 non-flagship phones such as xiaomi mi-8, or samsung s9 sold in latin america.
That may be true, But they don't have 5g radios.

Maybe that's doable but still counts as "hard" as it involves extra steps compared to TF bundles.
However that would also require a new TF plan purchase I suppose, not just an existing TF line.

Yes but better phones for Free from Total Wireless website if buy 1 month of service like Samsung A36 or Moto Stylus 2024 can use google voice or any number besides tracfone family to verify order and port any number after get device. Don't even need to activate if just plan to use as wifi device.

Geekbench 6 single core 841, vs ~2000 on a SD 8 Gen 2. So, roughly half.

Actually not horrific

But 4GB RAM :/ at least 6GB needed to be passable IMO.

I know the phone is $30 but the 4th gen Moto G made the jump to 1080p in 2016. What happened? 720p is rough by any standard these days

Can this locked phone be used for 300 tradein credits at samsung ?
As of 7/30/2025 11:50pm (pst) here are the Motorola phones listed:

Moto G Play (2024)
Edge+
Z4
Edge
G Stylus 5G
One 5G
Moto G Power
Moto G Pure
Moto G Fast
G7
G7 Play
G7 Power

Not sure why they are accepting phones from 2019 (G7 & variants and Z4). Z4 I could understand, being a flagship, but G7 is kinda garbage. But on the Google side, they take every Pixel phone, first Pixel came out in 2016. Doesn't make much sense, wish they still did the generic "Android Phone" trade in. Sigh.

I bought what I think is the 64 GB version of this phone (a moto g 5g 2025) from QVC recently for $35 as a new customer after a $2 rug pad purchase. By watching a video I found that this phone was able to become 6G ram by pulling 2G from the 64 GB: https://youtu.be/bHQK_E3pbwo?si=R-fgtxjh1gPDpv9l
But as I said, I am not sure this is the same phone!

I had the Moto Z years ago, loved the concept with snapping attachments like JBL speakers onto the back. but the phone had constant software issues. that was almost 10 years ago so I'm not sure if Motorola has stepped up their game or not on the meantime.
