- For all cellphones Activated on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically 60 days after paid Activation and 60 days of paid active service.

I've had no issues with any phone branded Tracfone/Straight Talk/Total Wireless running on a cheap Tracfone line counting towards unlocking....I'm not sure if there is even a difference in SIMs anymore, they all seem to have "TF" printed on them regardless of what the box sleeve brand was.

Will this work for the Samsung trade in?
This phone worked immediately with my old TF SIM, so I didn't need to call customer service.
I'm now wondering if the new SIM card that came with the phone can be used for a BYOP setup?

You used an already active sim linked to a different phone so the new phone will not unlock as it isn't registered correctly - and you haven't added the required 60 days of purchased service (carry over from current plan doesn't qualify). Swapping sims can only cause issues.
