It is, there are kits. It will void the warranty and you should at least be somewhat comfortable being gentle and taking apart something that doesn't make it easy for you to take it apart. There's a great video here describing the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJC73hm3VM4

Just wanted to chime in; it might not be relevant to everyone here, but Costco Visa no longer has extended warranty, so if you want to go beyond the two years, youll have to use a different card. It is generally one extra year for most of the visas, but (ironically), alot of other citi cards give you two extra years!

Costco gives you a 2-year warranty, well worth the extra $50 price difference.

🤮 Is this the one where you have to flip it over to turn it on? like the magic mouse where you gotta flip it over to charge? Unnovation at it's finest.
If you shut down your Mac after every use, it will be a problem. Most of use just let it go to sleep.

Yeah, I almost wonder if MC is offering at cost.. Apple doesn't allow for a lot of margin..

Read up on Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. The act of opening the Mac mini M4 case does NOT void the warranty. If you put everything back perfectly, and then 3 months later (still in warranty) the mini blows up, Apple would need to prove your opening it (and possibly replacing a drive) cause the explosion. Otherwise, they're responsible.

Yes, you just need to have a spare Mac to use DFU mode and void your warranty if you swap the SSD.
Again, warranty not voided please read Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

  • The Magic Mouse in question had a charge port on the bottom, which made it unusable while charging (agreed...very very dumb)
  • This is a power button for a device that has sleep mode
If you have trouble remembering where the button is located (and need to fully flip the device over to find it), you've got far more pressing concerns.

That's great in a perfect world. Unfortunately in this world, there is no simple recourse when Apple denies your claim anyways.

Did they deny your claim ? Or is this hypothetical?

Is the ssd changeable?
Yes but it makes more sense to move large files to an external SSD.
