It is, there are kits. It will void the warranty and you should at least be somewhat comfortable being gentle and taking apart something that doesn't make it easy for you to take it apart. There's a great video here describing the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJC73hm3VM4

Just wanted to chime in; it might not be relevant to everyone here, but Costco Visa no longer has extended warranty, so if you want to go beyond the two years, youll have to use a different card. It is generally one extra year for most of the visas, but (ironically), alot of other citi cards give you two extra years!

It is easier to buy a nas, plug it to the same network and mount it on mac mini.Cheaper too, avoids voiding warranty and risk of bricking the PC.
This "voiding warranty" nonsense needs to die.
Nortotron: Google "Magnuson moss void warranty" to understand why no warranties are voided. That's illegal under US law.

These are two very specific examples/use cases where you should avoid a $500 computer. It's a great note for anyone else looking to do those things (basically "Look elsewhere, because bottlenecks") ...but anyone who wants a desktop solution that's more powerful than a Macbook Air and works for basic work/gaming/media PC type tasks should consider this a complete steal Smilie
Nonsense. https://youtu.be/wG9RUCoysgA?si=0iAxBb4Cpm9t733M
Please watch that video. No, really - take 10 minutes and watch it. Unless you have multiple video cameras and are shooting in 8k or other insane resolutions, the mini M4 is fully capable of doing that and far, far more — sure, if you need an external SSD go buy one; they're cheap. The base Mini M4 can now do insane levels of video production (at speed) that are far beyond what most hobbyists will need or use.
What's your source for saying the mini cannot do what's listed?

I recently bought a Corsair EX400U TB4 drive and found out that if you use a rear port, it completely disables the 5g wifi connection for some reason. After moving the drive to the front, Wi-Fi 5g works again.
After some research, it appears to be a common issue.

Can this run LLMs well? Compared to Mac Pro M3 or M4

Define "well". I assume you're talking about running LLMs locally. It's relative to what model you want to run and how many tokens/second you're looking for. For some this might fit their needs. For others "well" might mean a Ryzen 9 AI 395+ with 128 GB of RAM.

May be. But it is in the terms. That is what apple is going to say when you contact support. Not everyone will have time and resources to take apple to court (not the fruit, the company)

Is this a hypothetical or have you been denied by Apple? If it's just a hypothetical, this isn't very interesting. The anger I see at Apple around denied claims (that are posted on Reddit, at least) center around water damage (with Apple stating there is, typically with photos, and customers stating that's impossible, even given the photos).
What I do not see are any claims of Apple voiding warranties because the box is opened. Do you?
Please point out these terms you mention.

Not a hypothetical, nor my direct experience either. My brother was denied warranty claim on a macbook pro (older intel version) that he had upgraded ssd, when display started flaking out. Note that after the upgrade, it worked fine for few months.

Have to check with my brother for the exact statement, but I remember him mentioning he was told the damange was due to him opening the laptop unauthorized. He told them ssd and dispplay were in differnt sections of the laptop, but it didn't matter.

Hard to buy that explanation from Apple. My 2013 MBP had SSD replaced on it (by me) and Apple was happy to replace the screen when required. And Apple's familiar with Magnuson Moss.
I would have escalated with store manager, and asked him to defend the statement vs MM.

Give it up dude. No one is listening to you.The warranty act is all well and good, but like others are telling you it means very little to the average consumer in America. No matter what SHOULD happen, a giant corporation doesn't have to reimburse you anything. Go ahead, take them to court I'm sure you're bound to come out ahead.Give it up. (I look forward to your response since you're incapable of letting go)

It's this mindset that allow the belief that one must take a car to their dealership for an oil change to remain under warranty, or belief in "Warranty Void if Broken" stickers (and similar nonsense) to prevail.
I'd encourage you to educate yourself and challenge any (actual, not hypothetical) decisions you see or hear about from others.
I'd encourage you to read facts on the real world:
https://consumer.ftc.gov/consumer...ee%20under
In case anyone is interested in what Apple actually writes (rather than, say, what AI says), here are some facts: https://www.apple.com/legal/warra...0BREACHED?
Case in point:
Important: Do not open the Apple Product. Opening the Apple Product may cause damage that is not covered by this Warranty. Only Apple or an AASP should perform service on this Apple Product.
Note that at no point is the phrase uttered that the warranty is automatically voided, because that would be illegal and Apple knows it. And Apple can say who they think "should" or "should not" do work on something all they like; it carries zero weight.
But don't let facts get in the way of your beliefs...

I have one of these. the biggest pain in the azzzz is always needing to clear out files to accommodate new files due to hard drive space

I'm a graphic designer. I use a Mac all day every day for work. The OS and apps are on the internal drive. All saved files go on an external SSD drive. No worrying about the internal drive size. With aliases (!) and either Spotlight or Easyfind (free app), you can make it seamless to have external drives and work with cloud drives in combination.
