This has been my experience. I've ordered plenty of rods from Amazon and they all came in a hardened tube.

I've purchased this rod from Amazon too and it was delivered in a plastic bag only and the rod was cracked.

not true. i recently had amazon ship only 1/2 of a 2-piece rod loose in a cardboard box

Sorry the worker wasn't a fisherman. Mine came in a box wrapped in butcher paper. Got this same deal last year in September.
