Like McDs, Wendys, or any other big chain fast food, if you don't use offers in the app, you're getting ripped off. Had a tiny little meal at Del Taco yesterday and it was $11.80. While I ate, I download the app. My meal would have been half that price...

I don't know what's up with fast food prices these days. I mean prices are getting ridiculous everywhere, but it seems like it hit fast food joints harder than any other part of the market, and there is no more "cheap" fast food.

I took my nephew to McDonalds last month and was taken aback by the prices. The ONLY food item under $3 on the entire menu was the McChicken at $2.89. Most of what were dollar menu items before Covid are now ~$4, and the adult combo meals (which aren't even really enough food for an adult meal) were $10-13. If you get enough food to fill up, it's literally cheaper to go to go to an actual restaurant (or call in a to-go order) than to pick up McDonald's. Even a Happy Meal was over $7 and it came with a piece of cardboard instead of a toy.

In the same time most restaurants have gone up 50%, "cheap" fast food has gone up 100-300% depending on the item and location.

Soon the tariffs will also put an end to cheap items made in other countries. There's no winning.

They realized getting high margins from one or two customers is better than selling really cheap stuff to twice as many customers.
