A chore to get through, but still a classic. I wish they would adapt it somehow. Perhaps an animated version.

I was waiting on the physical version to drop to go with my other Illustrated Editions (they both went sub-$30 on Prime Day) but it never did, but this is the next best thing. Thanks OP 👏

Thanks, the non-illustrated Kindle version is also $1.99 and supports Whispersync with the Andy Serkis audiobook on Audible. Also Return Of The King is $1.99.

I actually had to listen to the audiobook while I read it; I just don't have the time to learn an entire dialect!
It's a magical book, worth the effort.

I'll take that as a compliment. I read it in fifth grade. 🙂 And, yes, it's like reading a historical textbook.

Wasn't this "adapted" into the Amazon series Ring of Power?

Yup, I remember trying to read it once. Worse than reading an encyclopedia.

It was neither a compliment nor an insult. Just a statement of fact. Smilie

Ring's of power is more adjacent to the simarillion. A huge portion of the book is the creation of Arda, and age before the light and the first age. The only part I remember being second age is a history of Numenor, but that is kind of short. I dont remember the forging of the rings of power even being directly described in the Simarillion.
