With my three cheap China bikes I might have spent 20 mites between three of them and things were generally good out of the box. Fit and finish were about on par with my previous bikes and generally very good considering cost. What you mention is the stuff kids and adults have always had to do with bikes be they ebikes or regular. Me and my friends could take apart a bike and put it back together at the age of eight or so.
Many bikes have been coming from China for decades and decades now. My pre ebike bikes were China bikes from Walmart that I got for about $69 and I got years and years of use from them. They were put together sloppily by some American in the store but again maybe twenty minutes of time to tweak.
We would be better advising people that can not tweak and do the most basic of bike maintenance to maybe not get any bike at al be it Amercan mode or China as it is going to always cost them
I'd rather advise them to learn about the bike and not be so fearful of some maintenance but so many insinuate that that is some hurdle of epic proportions that many just give up on trying bikes to their detriment. That is why bike ridership is down and people are way more unhealthy and unskilled.
It's no different than how they treat scooters/motorcycles. 49CC or lower is generally not considered a "motorcycle" and therefore don't require a motorcycle endorsement.
If you want a faster/more powerful ebike, no one is stopping you. It just needs to be correctly registered and maybe tagged depending on the state.

I do have one other question and it is there some one site or sour ce to look for the details and real reviews for cheap ebikes or do you just browse around like crazy to find the details?
I find it hard to do research and I do assume many reviews may be paid but hope we see more people seriously doing real reviews in forums or sites dedicated to it that just do not discount them totally as they may be lower end. Many do give a good look but some I wonder about. Even in lower end stuff of any type there can be big differences and I sometimes find gems or at least ones that rise to the top in quality and dependability
